History of our Company

In business since 1963, Packaging Specialties, Inc. was founded by Frank and Clare Tabor. When Frank suddenly passed away in 1965, Clare took over, managing the daily operations as well as raising a family of seven children. At this time, Packaging Specialties was the only woman-owned corrugated converting plant in the Detroit area.

Manhattan Container Corp. was acquired in 1984, rounding out the manufacturing capabilities with more capacity, making Packaging Specialties a major player in the Detroit market.

Over the years, several major acquisitions has kept our company on top of the packaging market with state-of the-art equipment and space to continue to grow.

Packaging Specialties, Inc. is now managed by four of Clare's sons: Kurt (President), Kent (Vice-President), Keith (Designer), and Kerry (Plant Manager). They learned the business from the ground up as young adults, and have continued the operation to what it is today: a packaging manufacturer that is highly progressive and customer service oriented.

Clare is still active as the voice of expertise to which her sons still listen.
